Blue Hall Group

Last thursday was the 6th annual Knuha Day! Knuha is a hall area in the dorms at Northwestern. It is the 3rd floor all girls. Within Knuha there are 8 different smaller halls, each hall is a different color. Last semester I lived in blue hall in Knuha. My hall allowed me to join them in the Knuha day festivities. Each hall makes up a dance and decorates their hall according to the them. This year was about different charities, blue hall had Bachmin Associates. There winner of decorating their hall would use the money from the t-shirts that people could buy and donate it to their charity. In Blue hall each doorway represented a way someone could deal with depression. Our dance was based on the blue man group. So all the girls wore black, we had blue gloves on. Then we each wore a swim cap that we then spray painted blue. Afterwards we completely covered our faces with blue poster paint. We all looked like blue aliens. Then we did are dance that night. We placed 3rd in the hall and 2nd in the dance. It was a fun-filled night. The next day we were all finding blue paint behind our ears or in our noses. But it was all worth it, I will never paint my face with poster paint again.

Ayla Mae is 1

It's amazing how fast one year goes. Ayla Mae Springer turned one on saturday, Feb. 20th. They had a Korean first birthday party. It was so fun to be there to celebrate with Wil and Andrea the one year anniversary of their daughter Ayla. I was asked to take pictures of the event , which was the first time that I was paid to do a hobby I loved. It was a fun afternoon filled with the Korean traditions which were interesting to participate in. There is a table full of fruit, which would represent wealth. Then they laid objects in front of Ayla, like pen (meaning smart), CD (musician), money (wealth) and string (long life). Then she picks one, Ayla picked the pen, then later she picked the CD. So she will be smart according to Korean tradition. It was a fun afternoon, celebrating with friends and experience my first paid photography session. Happy Birthday Ayla Mae!

Blessings

The other night after worship team practice we left the church, but Mike's car was stuck in the new 6 inches of snow and it wasn't going anywhere. So we turned around to go help him out. As we are pushing the car in the dark of night, and it isn't getting anywhere people are getting frustrating. We already were a half hour behind schedule we didn't have time for this. Josh, the drummer, needed to be at a basketball game, Andrea and I had homework to get done and Mike just wanted to get home. Finally after falling in the snow and my pants wet, as a team we finally got the car unstuck. YEAH!!! Now another 30 min. later we were in the car on our 25 min car ride home. We were cold but it was a learning experience. First of all I realized how working as a team is important. Mike could not have done it on his own. It took many ideas, many people and encouragement to get that car out of the snow. Secondly, Josh brought up the point that we at least have cars. People in Haiti would have taken getting stuck in snow for 30 min over a deadly earthquake. Even though it was not an ideal circumstance it put my life back in perspective, that I am blessed in MANY ways. I have a God who loves me no matter what, I have a car that works even though it isn't the newest. I have a place to sleep tonight, clothes to wear and healthy food to eat, friends who support and encourage me and I have the privilege to worship an amazing God who is always there for me when I fall down. Remember that You are BLESSED!!!
